Three Easy Tips For Better Data Hygiene

With GDPR just around the corner, businesses must confront an uncomfortable truth. Their data is dirty and disorganized. They don’t know where critical files are stored, and they’ve only a dim idea of how employees are sharing and accessing sensitive information.

It’s a little confusing, honestly. The same organization that might have an intricate, perfectly-organized filing system for physical documents might simply toss up its hands in frustration when it comes to the digital world. I’m certain most people understand the importance of organizing their digital data.

WebAssembly Is Now Supported In All Major Browsers

In the summer of 2016, I published an article called Will Anyone Be Writing Javascript In A Couple Of Years? My answer was this: yes, we’ll still be writing Javascript, but over time it may be superseded by other languages that compile to Javascript. Today, of course, Javascript is still everywhere, but, apart from an unfortunate focus on CoffeeScript, I wasn’t completely off in my prediction: many developers write TypeScript rather than plain old Javascript, and Elm, ClojureScript, PureScript, and other languages that compile to Javascript are coming along nicely.

Future Hosting Adds Features to International CDN

NOVI, Mich. (June 15, 2011) – Future Hosting, an Internet solutions provider serving SMBs and enterprises internationally and developer of Future Engineer™, today added several key features to its international Cloud Delivery Network (CDN), which it launched just last month.

With the new features, customers can now host individual files in the CDN, which can be uploaded through a new Web interface or through FTP. Previously, the CDN only allowed customers to have the CDN pull files from the customer server and not upload files directly to each POP in the CDN.

In addition, these individual files can be stored with POP Pull on the CDN, in contrast to Origin Pull. In a traditional Origin Pull configuration, website files are temporarily copied to the CDN from an origin server when they are first accessed by a user. The files are purged from the CDN usually within 24 hours of access. In a POP Pull configuration, however, files are stored permanently on the CDN. This allows for faster performance, improved reliability, and reduced strain on client servers.

Through partnerships with upstream providers, Future Hosting’s CDN offers a physical presence in North America, Europe, Asia, South America, and Australia, and additional locations are planned, including in the Middle East. This unrivaled connectivity allows for low-latency, high throughput file transfers worldwide, and delivers failover protection and instant scalability.

“After nearly a month in operation, our CDN has proven itself to be an asset to our customers and our company. We are able to provide mission-critical content delivery services to our international customers who require low-latency, high-bandwidth access to important data in cities around the world. Nothing meets that need better than the Cloud,” said Future Hosting Chief Technical Officer Nick Zyren.

Both existing and new Future Hosting clients can add CDN-capability to their account. Individuals can contact Future Hosting’s sales department to learn more about the service. Additional details are available at http://www.futurehosting.com/web-hosting/cloud-delivery-network-cdn.

Future Hosting Adopts U.S.-E.U Safe Harbor Framework

NOVI, Mich. (March 29, 2011) – Future Hosting, an Internet solutions provider serving SMBs and enterprises internationally and developer of Future Engineer™, today announced it has self-certified under the United States Department of Commerce’s Safe Harbor framework, enabling its clients to operate freely in the European Union and the United States.

The European Commission’s Directive on Data Protection went into effect in October of 1998, and would prohibit the transfer of personal data to non-European Union countries that do not meet the European Union adequacy standard for privacy protection. The self-certification program enables United States companies to bridge the gaps in privacy regulation and operate safely within the European Union.

“For the last several years, Future Hosting has been actively pursing a strategy of internationalization, with a global footprint that includes servers in five international cities. Being able to operate safely and legally in all of these jurisdictions is of central importance, especially as we continue to work with an increasing number of small to medium sized businesses in the European Union,” said Future Hosting CEO Vik Patel.

Future Hosting’s self-certification is valid for one year, and requires annual re-filing to meet regulatory requirements. More details about the Safe Harbor program are available at http://www.export.gov/safeharbor.

Earlier this year, Future Hosting expanded its entire line of hosting services to Washington, D.C., adding dedicated servers, hybrid servers, and other ancillary services, including high-bandwidth ports, integrated management control panels, Ksplice Uptrack rebootless upgrades, and other specialized network services. Previously, Future Hosting had offered only Virtual Private Servers in the Washington, D.C. facility.
